How to prepare for your families Portrait:

Designing a portrait is like choosing furniture for your home. Mismatched colors and patterns can ruin the look of a room. Mismatched colors and clothing can make your portrait look busy, cheap, and less artistic.

  • Don't mix light and dark outfits or colors.
  • Long sleeves are preferred to keep the attention on the people's faces and away from the arms.
  • Avoid stripes, checks, or other distracting patterns.
  • Dark clothing is always slimming.
  • Matching sweaters and colors are preferred for a more timeless portrait.
  • Lay out your outfits together and make sure one doesn't stand out.
  • Keep everyone in the same type clothing, choose formal, semi formal, casual, or anything that matches your family's lifestyle but make sure everyone is in the same style of clothing. If one person is in a suit and another is in a tee-shirt the end result will be less than pleasing.
